Thank you for becoming an “Early Adopter” member of I Stand Beside (ISB, we, us or our). The following terms govern our relationship with you (Terms).
1. Purpose and Scope of Membership
- By joining ISB, you align yourself with a shared mission to foster peaceful, creative, and compassionate reconnection between humans and the more-than-human world.
2. Shared Values
- 2.1. ISB is grounded in the following values. While you are not required to personally adopt these in all aspects of life, you agree to act in accordance with them while engaging with ISB:
- 2.1.1. Interconnection – Recognising all beings as part of one living web.
- 2.1.2. Peaceful Change – Choosing care over conflict in how we create change.
- 2.1.3. Creative Action – Using art, ritual, and story to awaken empathy.
- 2.1.4. Responsibility – Acting with awareness of our impact on others.
- 2.1.5. Reciprocity – Giving back to the Earth and its communities.
3. Your Participation and Activity
- 3.1. While ISB welcomes a diversity of approaches and lifestyles, you agree that when you engage with or represent ISB in any public-facing way — such as:
- 3.1.1. submitting content to our platform or Early Adopters’ Gallery;
- 3.1.2. attending or facilitating ISB events;
- 3.1.3. using the phrases “I Stand Beside” or “We Stand Beside” in public or published contexts; you will do so in a manner consistent with the values of peace, empathy, non-violence, and creative advocacy.
- 3.2. ISB promotes only peaceful forms of expression and action. While engaging with ISB or participating in activities in ISB’s name, you agree:
- 3.2.1. to act within the law and with care for all beings, human and non-human;
- 3.2.2. not to incite or encourage violence, harm, or harassment;
- 3.2.3. not to commit any act of fraud;
- 3.2.4. not to act in any manner that harms minors;
- 3.2.5. not to promote any unlawful activity (including but not limited to the promotion or sale of any unlawful goods or services);
- 3.2.6. not to represent or suggest that we endorse any other charity, business, product or service unless we have separately agreed to do so in writing;
- 3.3. The terms “I Stand Beside” and “We Stand Beside” are central to our identity and must be used respectfully. You agree:
- 3.3.1. not to use these terms to support or endorse violence, hate, or unlawful actions.
- 3.3.2. not to claim to represent ISB officially without written permission.
- 3.3.3. not to use the phrases for commercial purposes without prior consent.
- 3.3.4. to use them in a manner consistent with ISB’s values of care, justice, and peaceful action.
- 3.4. We may prevent or suspend your membership, or take further action if you do not comply with these Terms or any applicable law.
4. Forums, Events, and Community Space
- 4.1. When participating in ISB-led events, forums, or workshops (including interspecies assemblies, trainings, and performances), you agree:
- 4.1.1. to respect differences in culture, belief, background, and species;
- 4.1.2. not to share abusive, discriminatory, off-topic, or misleading views;
- 4.1.3. to avoid unrelated promotions, or partisan political agendas;
- 4.1.4. to help co-create supportive, imaginative, and inclusive spaces.
- 4.2. We reserve the right to suspend access or terminate membership for serious or repeated violations.
- 4.3. Contributions, Copyright & Consent
- 4.4. “Member Content” means material (including without limitation text, images, clips, videos, and any underlying material) submitted by you to us.
- 4.5. Whenever you provide Member Content to us, you must comply with these Terms. You warrant that any such contribution complies with these standards, and you indemnify us for any breach of that warranty.
- 4.6. You shall remain the owner of the copyright in any original Member Content that you provide. The permission you grant to us below is not exclusive. You may continue to use your own Member Content in any way, including allowing others to use or exploit it, provided that such use does not interfere with or impair the rights you have granted to us under these Terms.
- 4.7. With respect to Member Content that you provide, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, non-exclusive and fully sub-licensable right and licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform and display that content and/or to incorporate it in other works in any form or media (whether now known or invented in the future, which may include other internet sites, mobile, television and/or radio) for purposes aligned with our mission.
- 4.8. You agree to waive any moral or similar rights in any jurisdiction that you may have in and to any of the Member Content you submit, even if the Member Content is modified, altered or changed.
- 4.9. You may revoke the above licence and request that your Member Content be withdrawn from future uses. We will comply, but cannot retract items already printed or published.
- 4.10. When you submit Member Content you accept that it may be made available to the general public. Please do not submit your Member Content if you do not want it to be available to the general public.
- 4.11. You warrant to us that:
- 4.11.1. Member Content you submit is your own original work and you own the entire right, title and interest in and to the Member Content and/or you have all necessary licences, rights, consents and permissions to use, and to authorise us to use the Member Content as contemplated by these Terms;
- 4.11.2. no further payments, monies, fees or royalties are or shall become due to any third parties relating to, arising out of, or in connection with our exploitation of your Member Content in the manner contemplated by these Terms;
- 4.11.3. your Member Content (in whole or in part) does not defame any third parties or infringe upon the copyright or other intellectual property rights, or rights of privacy of any third parties.
- 4.12. We have the right to disclose your identity to any third party who is claiming that any content provided by you to our site constitutes a violation of their intellectual property rights, or of their right to privacy.
- 4.13. We accept no responsibility for any statements, material (including Member Content) or other submissions provided by you or any third party user, or for any loss or damage resulting from your breach of these Terms.
5. Your privacy and personal information
- 5.1. Your privacy and personal information are important to us. Any personal information that you provide to us will be dealt with in line with our Privacy Policy available at: https://www.IStandBeside/about/#privacy-policy which explains what personal information we collect from you, how and why we collect, store, use and share such information, your rights in relation to your personal information and how to contact us and supervisory authorities in the event you have a query or complaint about the use of your personal information.
6. Liability
- 6.1. ISB is not liable for the actions or statements of individual members. We reserve the right to:
- 6.1.1. remove or suspend memberships that breach these Terms,
- 6.1.2. request removal of misrepresentative content,
- 6.1.3. pursue further action as appropriate.
- 6.2. If we breach these Terms or are negligent, we are liable to you for foreseeable loss or damage that you suffer as a result. By ‘foreseeable’ we mean that, at the time these Terms were formed, it was either clear that such loss or damage would occur or you and we both knew that it might reasonably occur, as a result of something we did (or failed to do).
- 6.3. We are not liable to you for any loss or damage that was not foreseeable, any loss or damage not caused by our breach or negligence, or any business loss or damage.
- 6.4. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for any death or personal injury caused by our negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
7. Events beyond our control
- 7.1 We are not liable to you if we fail to comply with these Terms because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
8. No third party rights
- 8.1 No one other than us or you has any right to enforce any of these Terms.
9. Variation
- 9.1. No changes to these Terms are valid or have any effect unless agreed by us in writing or made in accordance with this clause 9.
- 9.2. We reserve the right to vary these Terms from time to time. Our updated Terms will be provided to you, and unless you notify us following such changes, you agree to be bound by any variation made by us.
10. Complaints
- 10.1. We will try to resolve any disputes with you quickly and efficiently. If you are unhappy with us, please contact us as soon as possible.
- 10.2. The laws of England and Wales apply to these Terms. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
